Sickos
By Tim | February 29, 2008
This stinks — Titus got sick and gave Joy a rough ride back from Shanghai, WV, Monday. He still isn’t back to normal. Yesterday Leilani and I got it. And Joy hasn’t been feeling well. So, Benjamin is the only one who says he’s feeling well, and he’s not normal.
If I go to church tomorrow it will be only to preach — but the head elder is prepared to preach if I can’t be there.

Moving Day
By Tim | November 6, 2007
Yesterday was moving out day. I had been outside bringing stuff from the garage and yard around to the front so it was all together when an RV came needing to back down the street. I helped guide the driver back to where he was going. When I got back to the street, the moving van (from the Pennsylvania Conference of Seventh-day Adventists) was already there.
Joy and I weren’t completely ready, even when help started arriving a little after 5:00. However, we managed to get the truck loaded with lots of help from Pasadena church members. Thanks to Mr. Denny, Mr. Jerry, Mr. Clayton, Ms. Sharon, Mr. Don, Mr. Robert & Ms. Vicki & Huey, and Pastor Glass — we literally couldn’t have done it without you!
Just as important as the help loading the truck was the help that Ms. Queta gave — she watched the kids literally all day and through the moving process — that was a huge help as Joy and I tried to get the final touches done — it was nice to know that the kids’ rooms were done, without finding more stuff that had mysteriously become “unpacked”! Of course, “Nobody” was always responsible!
We had great weather — it was cool, but most of us worked up a sweat anyway. The wind started picking up a little, but not too bad. As we were leaving Mr. Don and Ms. Queta’s house after picking up the kids, it started to rain — but it held off until after we had the truck loaded. Thank you, Lord!
This morning we go back to the Pasadena house to get the last few things that will go in our minivan and car, and to clean up. We have a move-out inspection at 10:00 a.m., then head over the Chesapeake Bay so we can be there to unload in Snow Hill at 5:00 p.m. this evening. Both churches have pledged volunteers to help unload. We hope we have dry weather tonight. The forecast is 40% chance of rain just about all day.
Anyone who emails us may not receive a reply for a few days. Comcast is supposed to be here tomorrow morning to install the cable, so hopefully we’ll get internet service then. I’m very behind on my email, and I don’t think Joy has had a chance to even check hers for several days. We will reply, eventually!

Moving East
By Tim | October 19, 2007
We’re moving again! Next week the Executive Committee of the Chesapeake Conference of Seventh-day Adventists will meet. One item on their agenda will be to officially approve transferring me to become the pastor of the Beacon of Light Seventh-day Adventist Company and pastoral intern (eventually transitioning to become the pastor) at the Park Seventh-day Adventist Church in Salisbury on Maryland’s Eastern Shore.
Joy and I have spent the week on the Delmarva Peninsula (includes the state of Delaware and the Eastern Shore areas of Maryland and Virginia, hence the name “Delmarva”). Monday night we met with the boards of both congregations (with Elder Rob Vandeman, the president of the Conference introducing us). The congregations are different, but both meetings went well.
We spent most of the rest of our time trying to look for a house to rent. We believe we’ve found one in the town of Snow Hill. It has four (4) bedrooms, 1 full bath, 1 half bath, and the master bathroom is a 3/4 bath (shower, but no bath). There is an attached 2-car garage (small for a 2-car, but we’ll be able to either park both cars in the garage, or use 1 side for bicycles, lawn mower, etc.) It has a full basement that’s divided into two rooms. The washer, dryer, and dishwasher are all brand new. In short, we fell in love with the house immediately, and the rent is very good. The landlady will be checking our references, then we’ll have to go back over next week to sign the lease, etc.
Click on the small picture to see a slide show with the photos I took. If you click the big “i” in the middle of the slide show, you’ll see the captions. If you don’t see the “i” or the captions, move your mouse toward the middle of the photo and it should appear (at least using Firefox 2.0.0.7 or Internet Explorer 7).
Update: We will be going over Monday afternoon to sign the lease — this will be our new home in under two weeks!

Last month we attended a birthday party for one of our church members. Here are two friends having fun (at someone else’s party!)
